Frontend Engineer (React/TypeScript)

Location: London, UK; hybrid. In-person work is required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Salary: £90,000–£135,000 base for L3 or £120,000–£160,000 base for L4, plus equity of £20,000–£50,000 or £20,000–£40,000 respectively. Level is assessed during the interview process.

What you will do

• Own the design system, including components, patterns, tokens, documentation, adoption, migration, and versioning.
• Set the direction for front-end architecture, rendering strategies, deployment, performance, build tooling, and engineering conventions.
• Work across all product teams on front-end-heavy projects and multiply the impact of interface improvements across the organisation.
• Partner with Product Designers and Product Managers to turn design intent into reusable, high-quality interface primitives.
• Build complex procurement interfaces including branching approval workflows, dense operational tables, and adaptive intake forms.
• Support frequent incremental production releases and engage directly with customers to improve product value.

Requirements

• Deep experience building complex production applications with React, including rendering behaviour, state management, and performance at scale.
• Experience owning front-end infrastructure, including rendering strategies, build tooling, bundle performance, and application architecture.
• Experience building or owning a design system and driving adoption across multiple teams.
• Deep knowledge of CSS, responsive layouts, styling architecture, accessibility, motion, and interface quality.
• Strong TypeScript skills beyond the browser and comfort with full-stack-oriented programming exercises.
• Ability to work autonomously, handle ambiguity, make architectural decisions, collaborate with designers, and support the growth of other engineers.

Hiring process

• Talent screening call, pair-programming interview in TypeScript, and engineering culture interview; the remote stages last approximately 30–60 minutes.
• Front-end system design and engineering leadership interviews take place in person and last approximately two hours.
• Final 45-minute remote interview with the CEO; stages vary by level and level is assessed throughout the process.
