Mid Software Engineer (Java/React)

Location: Hybrid in Manchester, United Kingdom, with in-office presence twice a week

What you will do

• Develop and maintain frontend and backend features and services for a large-scale audio platform.
• Contribute to prototyping and early-stage feature development while taking increasing ownership.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, pairing, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Apply DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, containerisation, and observability.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests and apply security best practices.
• Participate in incident management rotas and contribute to interviews and onboarding.

Requirements

• Solid software engineering experience with the ability to work independently across frontend and backend features.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, TypeScript, and React, or a comparable modern stack.
• Knowledge of microservices, APIs, cloud-based deployment, CI/CD, containerisation, DevOps, and application security.
• Experience in a product-led, agile software delivery environment.
• Some familiarity with incident management or on-call responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Kubernetes and Kafka.
• Experience in media, audio streaming, or consumer platforms.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tooling.
