Crypto Risk Lead

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid office attendance required at least 3 days per week

Base pay: $98,000–$115,000 CAD per year, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of Canada’s independent crypto risk management program.
• Adapt the global risk framework to Canadian regulatory expectations, including CIRO and the CSA.
• Lead risk assessments, including RCSAs, and manage issues and incidents from identification through remediation and closure.
• Evaluate new products, digital assets, and business changes for risk and control impact before launch.
• Prepare board and risk committee materials, key risk indicators, and issue and incident trend reporting.
• Support Canadian regulatory exams, audits, and assessments while partnering with compliance, operations, engineering, legal, and global risk teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of risk management experience in financial services, crypto, fintech operations, or another comparably regulated industry.
• Experience building or independently operating a risk management program.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian financial services regulatory environment; direct experience with CIRO, the CSA, or crypto-specific regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred.
• Experience designing risk governance frameworks, policies, procedures, RCSAs, key risk indicators, and issue management processes.
• Experience preparing and presenting materials to boards, risk committees, or senior executives, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort using data, automation, AI-enabled tools, and GRC tools for risk monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
