Sr. Risk and Controls Advisor (SOX)

Location: Northbrook, Illinois, United States

Annual base pay: $94,700–$124,900, plus an incentive program and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise process owners and internal stakeholders on risks, mitigating controls, internal controls over financial reporting, and SOX compliance.
• Lead annual control-environment activities, including risk assessments, control attestations, key-report testing, critical-spreadsheet reviews, auditor walkthroughs, and service-organization reviews.
• Maintain and improve the platform used to document business processes, risks, and controls, including reporting, configuration, documentation, coaching, and user enablement.
• Identify opportunities to improve control-environment efficiency and effectiveness and support policy and procedure updates.
• Assess risks and control changes arising from system and process implementations, including evaluation of business UAT work.
• Lead smaller projects or workstreams, clarify requirements and deadlines, and develop and deliver user training.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in public accounting or equivalent experience.
• CPA or CIA certification, or an advanced degree.
• Strong interpersonal, written, oral communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and self-leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet short or unexpected deadlines, and produce high-quality, detail-oriented work.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels and drive efficiency improvements.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of GRC platforms such as Workiva.
