Cost Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom; on site 3–4 days per week

Salary: GBP 40,000–60,000 per year

What you will do

• Maintain and update project budgets, forecasts, commitments, actual costs, accruals, and variances.
• Support change control and assess the cost impact of project changes.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, dashboards, sponsor reporting, and Monthly Project Reviews.
• Provide cost analysis for KPIs, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and enhance cost systems, tools, and processes.
• Collaborate with project controls managers, planners, commercial teams, work package managers, and other stakeholders to maintain cost data integrity.

Requirements

• 4–10 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and change management on large, complex projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and data analysis tools.
• Experience in infrastructure, energy, or nuclear projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP or project controls software such as SAP, EcoSys, or Primavera.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Project Management, or equivalent military experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with NEC Option C contracts and associated reporting.
• Knowledge of NEC or FIDIC commercial processes.
• Formal training in cost control, estimating, or forecasting.
• Progress toward RICS, APM, CICES, PMI, or similar professional accreditation.
