Security Engineer

Location: San Francisco; 4 days in-office per week. Remote hiring is available for the right candidate in the United States.

Salary: $160,000–$185,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and operate detection and response capabilities, including continuous monitoring, triage, investigation, containment, and remediation of security events.
• Develop incident playbooks, on-call and escalation paths, tabletop exercises, and continuous improvements to response quality and speed.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Infrastructure to improve telemetry coverage and embed detection and response into cloud, corporate, and production systems.
• Implement detection and response projects, evaluate tooling, and explore modern platforms, open-source solutions, and AI-enabled tools.
• Support SOC 2 security efforts and translate audit requirements into sustainable operational practices.
• Perform hands-on technical work, including scripting and automation to reduce manual effort.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in detection engineering, incident response, and/or security operations.
• Experience with modern observability and security stacks, including SIEM, EDR, cloud telemetry, logging, and detection primitives.
• Growing understanding of adversary tradecraft and the ability to translate TTPs into practical detection and response strategies.
• Ability to review telemetry, identify infrastructure detection gaps, and support security automation through scripting.
• Familiarity with modern cloud and SaaS environments.
• Ability to work in the San Francisco office 4 days per week, or be located in the United States for the remote option.
