Security Engineer, Detection & Response

Location: Full-time remote work is available only from approved US entities in CA, CO, ID, IL, FL, GA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OR, PA, TX, UT, and WA. Employees are expected to attend in-person gatherings at least once per quarter.

Base salary: $200,000–$240,000 in the SF Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, NYC, and Seattle; $184,000–$220,000 in other listed major locations; $172,000–$206,000 in other cities and towns within approved states.

What you will do

• Operate the Panther SIEM, including log ingestion, detection content, and alert investigation workflows.
• Lead adoption of AI-augmented SOC tooling and modernize investigation capabilities.
• Triage alerts and lead incident response through investigation, containment, remediation, and post-incident reviews.
• Build security automation that detects threats, enriches alerts, and reduces manual investigation work.
• Partner with Engineering and IT to create self-service log onboarding, detection proposals, and runbooks.
• Participate in the security on-call rotation and contribute to cloud, infrastructure, and application security.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in security engineering, security operations, detection engineering, or security-focused software engineering.
• Hands-on production SIEM experience, including log onboarding, detection content maintenance, and alert triage.
• Ability to write production-quality code for security automation and detection-as-code.
• Experience leading or substantially contributing to security incident response.
• Strong technical writing, risk-based prioritization, system reasoning, and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-augmented SOC platforms or LLM-powered investigation and runbook tooling.
• Experience operating cloud environments at scale, especially AWS incident response.
• Endpoint forensics on Mac or Linux.
• Detection-as-code workflows in CI/CD pipelines.
• Mobile adtech or high-volume SaaS experience.
