Advanced Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Illinois, United States; hybrid

Salary: $104,000–$156,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Review, validate, and triage security alerts and analyze correlated logs from network, host, cloud, and other security sensors.
• Investigate cyber incidents, assess their impact, and drive escalations through resolution.
• Proactively hunt through collected telemetry to detect advanced threats that bypass existing security controls.
• Research emerging threats, analyze malicious activity and code, and apply appropriate countermeasures.
• Develop incident-handling policies and procedures aligned with industry standards.
• Tune alerting, maintain security infrastructure and tooling configurations, and support junior team members in detection engineering.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in incident response, incident analysis, or computer forensics.
• Strong cyber incident response skills, including network forensics, memory forensics, and/or packet analysis.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, network services, cryptography, web application attacks, attacker methods, exploitation techniques, and mitigating controls.
• Familiarity with security devices, their configuration, and security information and event management systems.
• Experience using scripting languages for information security use cases and independently prioritizing complex events.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud environments such as Azure, GCP, or AWS.
• Experience in a global-scale SaaS environment.
• Experience in the legal sector, e-discovery, and litigation.
• Certifications such as GCFA, GCIA, GCIH, GNFA, GREM, OSCP, or CEH.
