TL;DR

What you will do

  • Define and execute a multi-year strategy and roadmap for the Detection & Response sub-domain to reduce organizational risk.
  • Architect and optimize logging, alerting, and investigation platforms across cloud and corporate environments.
  • Act as the primary senior escalation point for high-severity security investigations and drive systemic fixes.
  • Conduct risk and design reviews for new products to ensure detection and response capabilities are integrated before launch.
  • Mentor security engineers, lead training sessions, and contribute to corporate Security Standards and Policy.
  • Participate in the senior on-call rotation as a primary responder for security incidents.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in security or systems engineering, with 5+ years specifically in threat detection and response.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-first environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and detection engineering.
  • Hands-on proficiency with EDR, SIEM, SOAR, and detection-as-code pipelines.
  • Ability to write and review code and queries in Python and languages like SPL or KQL.
  • Experience designing and implementing production-ready AI-assisted security workflows.
  • Must be based in the US and able to work from the Seattle office at least 50% of the time monthly
