Staff Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States. Hybrid work with an in-office expectation of at least 50% of the time, typically three days per week.

Salary: $212,000–$265,000 per year, plus equity and additional compensation components.

What you will do

• Set the technical strategy and one-to-three-year roadmap for a Detection & Response sub-domain.
• Shape logging, alerting, investigation, and response platforms across cloud and corporate environments.
• Lead the response to high-severity security incidents, document root causes, and drive systemic remediation.
• Review products and architectures to integrate detection and response before launch.
• Establish security guidance and standards, mentor engineers, and lead technical training sessions.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Management, and Red Team teams while participating in the senior on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 7+ years in security or systems engineering, including 5+ years in threat detection and response or a related discipline.
• Subject-matter expertise in detection engineering, threat analysis, incident investigation and response, forensics, and response tooling.
• Hands-on experience with EDR, SIEM, SOAR, and detection-as-code pipelines.
• Experience designing or integrating AI-enabled systems and production-ready AI-assisted workflows with security, privacy, monitoring, and human-review controls.
• Ability to write and review code and queries, including Python, scripting, SPL, or KQL.
• Experience leading complex incidents, owning security strategy, mentoring engineers, and influencing teams without direct authority; bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
