What you will do
- Define and execute a multi-year strategy and roadmap for the Detection & Response sub-domain to reduce organizational risk.
- Architect and optimize logging, alerting, and investigation platforms across cloud and corporate environments.
- Act as the primary senior escalation point for high-severity security investigations and drive systemic fixes.
- Conduct risk and design reviews for new products to ensure detection and response capabilities are integrated before launch.
- Mentor security engineers, lead training sessions, and contribute to corporate Security Standards and Policy.
- Participate in the senior on-call rotation as a primary responder for security incidents.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in security or systems engineering, with 5+ years specifically in threat detection and response.
- Deep expertise in cloud-first environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and detection engineering.
- Hands-on proficiency with EDR, SIEM, SOAR, and detection-as-code pipelines.
- Ability to write and review code and queries in Python and languages like SPL or KQL.
- Experience designing and implementing production-ready AI-assisted security workflows.
- Must be based in the US and able to work from the Seattle office at least 50% of the time monthly
