Utilities Designer (Civil Infrastructure): Preparing utility designs, drawings, models, and coordination documentation for water, drainage, gas, electrical, telecommunications, and other infrastructure services with an accent on utility investigations, service relocations, and protection strategies. Focus on developing concept through detailed designs, managing clashes, interpreting survey and service records, and coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders across major infrastructure projects.

What you will do
- Prepare utility designs, drawings, and models for water, sewer, stormwater, gas, electrical, telecommunications, recycled water, and other services.
- Develop concept, preliminary, and detailed design documentation across transport, water, energy, defence, urban development, and major infrastructure projects.
- Conduct utility investigations and interpret survey data, engineering drawings, and service records.
- Assist with utility relocation, adjustment, protection, service coordination, and clash detection activities.
- Prepare technical reports, design calculations, layouts, coordination plans, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, designers, drafters, clients, authorities, and external stakeholders while supporting delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and applicable standards.
Requirements
- Experience in utilities design within engineering consulting, infrastructure, or construction environments.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation; Civil 3D experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of utility authority standards and requirements.
- Strong understanding of utility coordination and clash management.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey information, and utility records.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Nice to have
- Experience delivering major transport, defence, water, or urban infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of BIM workflows, digital engineering practices, GIS platforms, or utility management systems.
- Understanding of Austroads and applicable Australian Standards.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
