TL;DR
Road CAD Design Technologist/Drafter - Group (Civil 3D): Preparing and managing 2D/3D civil drawings and BIM models for light rail, road, and transportation infrastructure projects with an accent on alignments, corridors, surfaces, profiles, cross-sections, and utility interfaces. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary design outputs, maintaining CAD standards, and producing accurate documentation in Civil 3D and MicroStation.

What you will do

  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for rail, road, and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and manage civil BIM models in Autodesk Civil 3D, including alignments, corridors, surfaces, grading, and utility interfaces.
  • Produce track layouts, alignment plans, cross-sections, longitudinal profiles, roadway plans, and typical sections.
  • Use Bentley MicroStation V8i and CONNECT Edition to manage reference files, levels, sheet models, annotations, and CAD standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers, survey teams, designers, structures, drainage, and utilities disciplines to deliver integrated outputs.
  • Support design reviews, approvals, stakeholder presentations, and quality control activities.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Drafting, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Civil 3D Drafter on infrastructure projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Understanding of civil engineering design principles, including roads, grading, drainage, and utility coordination.
  • Ability to prepare plan/profile sheets, cross-sections, and corridor-based models.
  • Accuracy, quality control, communication, teamwork, schedule awareness, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with light rail, rail, highway, or urban infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks for coordination and clash review.
  • Familiarity with GIS, survey integration, and data exchange workflows.
