Director of Communications, Windows + Devices

Location: Redmond, Washington, United States; 3 days per week in-office

Salary: USD $130,900–$251,900 per year across the U.S.; USD $165,600–$272,300 per year in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area

What you will do

• Set the communications strategy, vision, and long-range narrative for the Windows + Devices portfolio.
• Lead communications planning for major product launches, seasonal campaigns, and industry events.
• Build global relationships with technology, business, developer, and trade media, creators, analysts, partners, and customers.
• Direct reactive media strategy, messaging standards, device review programs, and public relations at industry and partner events.
• Identify cross-business storytelling opportunities connecting Windows with gaming, security, and Copilot.
• Lead, coach, and develop a five-person communications team while managing agency, vendor, and executive relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, finance, or a related field, plus 6+ years of communications or public relations experience, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of people management experience.
• Experience leading strategic communications for major products, platforms, or brands.
• Experience building global media relations and public relations strategies and advising senior executives.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent, high-visibility workstreams under deadline.
• Must work from the Redmond, Washington office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience in technology, consumer electronics, or platform and developer communications.
• Experience with Windows, Surface, the broader PC ecosystem, OEM and silicon partners, and agency or vendor budgets.
