Director, PR & Communications

Location: New York, NY, United States

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD base salary annually, plus potential bonus or commission and equity.

What you will do

• Build and lead the earned media strategy across brand, creator, technology, business, retail, fashion, lifestyle, and consumer channels.
• Identify stories, audiences, spokespeople, and channels across press, podcasts, speaking opportunities, and executive social.
• Develop media relationships and turn company data, product launches, partnerships, and milestones into repeatable media moments.
• Create thought leadership platforms and prepare founders and executives for interviews and speaking opportunities.
• Plan and manage rapid-response and crisis communications.
• Scale the PR function, manage external agencies, and hire junior communications talent as needed.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of communications experience with a specialty in earned media.
• Strong relationships with reporters and editors in at least two relevant media areas.
• Exceptional writing skills across pitches, executive briefs, quotes, bylines, and social content.
• Ability to set strategy while remaining hands-on with pitching, writing, and relationship development.
• Experience advising senior leaders and building a communications function from the ground up.
• Industry experience in technology, fashion, beauty, retail, performance marketing, or the creator economy.
