Senior Ground System Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. Standard working hours; travel up to 30%.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and SETA advisory support for ground system architecture, antenna scheduling, ground networks, C2 interfaces, mission planning data flows, and systems integration.
• Develop and review requirements, architecture documentation, interface control documents, test strategies, user stories, and mission partner onboarding materials.
• Evaluate design baselines, Jira projects, test plans, ground threads, telemetry, command/status data, scheduling data, and operational performance trends.
• Track technical risks, deficiencies, design trades, system performance, and impacts to mission, schedule, and cost.
• Coordinate with systems engineering, configuration management, testing, risk management, mission adoption, and mission partner organizations.
• Prepare technical recommendations, reports, briefings, courses of action, and decision materials for program and executive leadership while guiding less senior personnel.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance required; only U.S. citizens can obtain this clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, applied science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant DoD/IC, Government, or industry experience in systems engineering, ground systems, space mission operations, software architecture, C2 systems, or related mission systems.
• Experience developing, fielding, integrating, or sustaining software-intensive satellite and ground systems, including software architectures, interface requirements, and operational workflows.
• Knowledge of space operations, mission-user needs, ground antenna networks, satellite scheduling applications, RF spectrum considerations, and C2 requirements.
• Experience with requirements analysis, configuration and risk management, Integrated Master Schedules, SOW/PWS review, test planning, and stakeholder or mission partner onboarding.

Nice to have

• Prior SETA support for a Government program office.
• Five or more years of SAP and/or SCI experience.
• Experience with rapid prototyping, ACAT I/II acquisition programs, integrated air/space/cyber capabilities, and classified mission environments.
• Experience with exercises, training materials, operational procedures, system acceptance planning, interface control working groups, or operational test readiness.
• Familiarity with IC organizations and classified mission partner coordination.
