Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Redmond, Washington, United States; 3 days per week in-office

Salary: USD $119,800–$234,700 gross annual base pay across the U.S.; USD $160,200–$261,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area

What you will do

• Write production code as a hands-on individual contributor.
• Build services and solutions that improve developer productivity and reduce engineering toil.
• Modernize legacy services and develop new AI-enabled capabilities.
• Identify dependencies and create design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual, monitor systems on call, and respond to degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical strategy and cross-organization decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
• Professional coding experience with one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to work from the Redmond, Washington office 3 days per week.
• Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations and produce technical design documentation.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience.
• Experience leading technical strategy, mentoring teams, and influencing cross-organization decisions.
