What you will do
- Develop and maintain the emergency management program, emergency plan, procedures, hazards assessments, action levels, and response organization for Idaho Falls activities.
- Define command, control, notifications, classifications, protective actions, accountability, medical and radiological response, fire response, security interfaces, recovery, and reentry responsibilities.
- Establish response and communication interfaces with MFC, Idaho National Laboratory, DOE, local emergency services, hospitals, law enforcement, and other off-site organizations.
- Recruit, train, qualify, drill, and maintain an Emergency Response Organization with sufficient coverage for operations, testing, construction, startup, absences, and on-call needs.
- Plan and conduct drills and exercises covering radiological, sodium, fire, industrial, medical, security, natural-phenomena, and infrastructure-loss events; track corrective actions through closure.
- Maintain emergency facilities, communications, alarms, protective equipment, supplies, maps, rosters, and response equipment, and provide technical support during actual emergencies.
Requirements
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management, nuclear operations, radiological protection, fire protection, security, or high-hazard emergency response.
- At least two years leading an emergency preparedness program or a significant Emergency Response Organization function at a commercial nuclear plant, DOE facility, national laboratory, or comparable high-hazard site.
- Knowledge of emergency planning hazards assessments, classifications, action levels, notifications, protective actions, drills, consequence assessment, recovery, and program assessment.
- Experience coordinating with DOE, national laboratories, government agencies, emergency services, law enforcement, and off-site response organizations.
- Must be based in the United States and willing to work on-site in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
- Must be available for emergency callout, drills, critical tests, nights, weekends, rotating on-call coverage, and required site access and authorization processes.
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of radiological events, sodium hazards, industrial accidents, fires, natural phenomena, security events, and continuity-of-operations challenges.
- Professional certification or qualification such as Certified Emergency Manager, emergency director, radiological emergency coordinator, or incident command qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, health physics, engineering, physical science, public safety, or a related field; substantial directly applicable experience may substitute.
