What you will do
- Develop and maintain licensing bases for advanced non-LWR reactor projects using risk-informed, performance-based methods and the Licensing Modernization Project methodology.
- Select and evaluate licensing basis events, including AOOs, DBEs, and BDBEs, and perform or oversee deterministic safety analyses.
- Classify safety-related structures, systems, and components and define applicable codes, quality standards, and special treatments.
- Integrate PRA insights into licensing basis event selection, defense-in-depth evaluations, design decisions, and safety cases.
- Prepare and manage PSARs, FSARs, license amendment requests, and other licensing documents while engaging with NRC, DOE, vendors, and national laboratories.
- Support operational programs, quality assurance implementation, technical specifications, training plans, exemptions, and technical review panels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, fire protection, or a closely related engineering or science discipline.
- At least 2 years of relevant nuclear industry experience, including at least 1 year in nuclear operations, design, or technical support.
- Strong understanding of reactor theory, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, reactor systems, and PRA methodologies.
- Knowledge of U.S. nuclear regulations, especially 10 CFR Parts 50 and 52, including 10 CFR 50.69 and risk-informed SSC categorization.
- Familiarity with I&C architectures, seismic qualification standards, equipment qualification, DOE requirements, technical writing, and regulatory stakeholder communication.
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons and may not hold non-compliant foreign citizenships under 10 CFR Part 810.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with non-LWR or advanced reactor licensing and NRC or DOE regulatory reviews.
- Experience with nuclear-project quality assurance programs and construction oversight.
- Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
