Tutor (Special Education)

Location: Salinas, California, United States; on-site, in-person tutoring in students' homes

Pay: $25–$35 per hour

What you will do

• Provide individualized, one-on-one instruction focused on kindergarten readiness and foundational academic skills.
• Support emerging reading skills, including fluency, comprehension, sight-word recognition, and confidence building.
• Reinforce foundational math concepts such as counting, number awareness, and early mathematical skills.
• Provide handwriting instruction and fine motor support through pencil-control and guided-writing activities.
• Support communication, language development, focus, frustration tolerance, sensory regulation, and positive learning behaviors.
• Monitor progress, adjust instruction to developmental and academic needs, and coordinate lessons with the student's summer school schedule when needed.

Requirements

• Experience working with young learners, particularly students with autism, speech delays, or sensory processing needs.
• Strong background in early literacy, foundational math, kindergarten readiness, handwriting, and fine motor development.
• Ability to use visual, interactive, hands-on, and multisensory teaching strategies.
• Familiarity with sensory regulation strategies, structured routines, frequent redirection, and positive reinforcement.
• Ability to create age-appropriate lessons tailored to a student's developmental level and interests.
• Availability for 15 hours per month, three times per week, with 1 hour and 15 minutes per session in Salinas.
