Tutor (Special Education)

Location: Salinas, California, United States; in-person tutoring in students' homes

Pay: $25–$35 per hour

What you will do

• Provide individualized, one-to-one instruction focused on kindergarten readiness and foundational academic skills.
• Support emerging reading skills, including fluency, comprehension, sight-word recognition, and confidence building.
• Reinforce foundational mathematics, including counting and number awareness.
• Provide handwriting instruction and fine-motor support through guided, hands-on activities.
• Support communication, focus, frustration tolerance, sensory regulation, and positive learning behaviors.
• Monitor progress and adapt lessons, routines, visual supports, and interactive activities to the student's developmental and academic needs.

Requirements

• Experience working with young learners, especially students with autism, speech delays, or sensory processing needs.
• Strong background in early literacy, foundational math, and kindergarten readiness.
• Experience supporting emerging readers and providing handwriting and fine-motor instruction.
• Familiarity with sensory regulation strategies, visual supports, multisensory instruction, and positive reinforcement.
• Patience and the ability to provide frequent redirection, structured routines, and age-appropriate lessons.
• Availability for 15 hours per month, three times per week, with 1 hour and 15 minutes per session.
