Learning Support Specialist I

Location: Laredo, Texas; on-campus, face-to-face attendance is required

Salary: $17.54 per hour

What you will do

• Teach college-ready and developmental math courses, including College Algebra, Business Math I, Math for Liberal Arts, and Introduction to Statistics.
• Teach English Composition I and provide supplemental instruction for assigned courses.
• Support students with assignments, research papers, presentations, study habits, test anxiety, and class organization.
• Identify at-risk and Early Alert students, provide targeted interventions, and support students on probation.
• Track student progress, maintain confidential records, and collect data for deans.
• Organize Bridge programs and conduct workshops on learning skills and study strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
• One year of related experience in the specialized content area.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, multitasking, collaboration, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work on weekends, maintain a flexible schedule, and attend regularly on campus.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a related field.
• Experience tutoring, teaching, or working with college students and at-risk adults.
• Experience with instructional best practices, learning-outcome assessment, data collection and analysis, and the Texas Success Initiative.
