Network Hardware Engineer

What you will do

• Drive the New Product Introduction process for network hardware, from requirements gathering and device selection through DVT, PVT, and operational acceptance.
• Lead product lifecycle management and engineering validation of network hardware in laboratory environments.
• Gather requirements, contribute to network architecture, and execute hardware design and product validation.
• Develop test plans, tools, and automation to evaluate network hardware performance and improve testing efficiency.
• Partner with Network Engineering, Operations, Datacenter Engineering, and technology vendors on hardware decisions and deployments.
• Troubleshoot and reproduce hardware issues, document results, and communicate findings through internal presentations, wikis, blogs, and ticketing systems.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience evaluating and experimenting with hardware performance through testing, measurement, or simulation.
• Extensive experience with networking hardware architecture, validation, performance benchmarking, debugging, and deployment.
• Deep knowledge of data center switching and routing protocols and Internet routing.
• Experience driving engineering projects from idea through experimentation and implementation, including work with OEMs, ODMs, and technology vendors.
• Professional-level proficiency in Python or similar programming and scripting languages, plus familiarity with coding agents and AI tools.

Nice to have

• Automation of Spirent or Ixia traffic-generation equipment and test cases.
• Hardware knowledge of ASICs, TCAMs, and packet pipelines.
• Experience with optical line systems, transceiver troubleshooting, white-box switches, and open-source networking projects.
• Familiarity with Junos, IOS-XR, EOS, SONiC, or ArcOS.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana, or with RoCEv2 fabrics using PFC and ECN.
