QA Automation Engineer (Video Streaming)

Location: Hybrid — Condominio Parque Empresarial Forum I, Torre G, Piso 2, Pozos Santa Ana, San José, Costa Rica

Pay rate: Up to $40 USD per hour

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites for functional, integration, and end-to-end validation.
• Execute manual, regression, performance, and reliability testing, including test documentation, test cases, and defect reports.
• Validate video playback across formats, codecs, resolutions, devices, browsers, and streaming environments.
• Analyze M3U8 and MPEG-DASH MPD manifests and validate HLS, MPEG-DASH, DVB-DASH, and VOD delivery standards.
• Test video advertising workflows, including ad insertion, playback, and tracking.
• Verify subtitle accuracy, synchronization, formatting, multilingual support, audio quality, language selection, and playback behavior; support releases and post-release production validation.

Requirements

• Experience with automated and manual software testing.
• Experience creating and maintaining automated test suites and frameworks.
• Knowledge of video streaming, playback validation, adaptive streaming, and video delivery standards.
• Ability to test across devices, browsers, platforms, and varying streaming conditions.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Availability for hybrid work in San José, Costa Rica.
