Research Associate, Genome Engineering (Synthetic Biology)

What you will do

• Support the design, development, and testing of multiplex genome engineering tools in mammalian cells.
• Perform molecular biology workflows, including plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and gel analysis.
• Generate high-throughput assays for gene-editing workflows.
• Assess genome-editing efficiency using Sanger and next-generation sequencing approaches.
• Support inventory management, stock preparation, equipment maintenance, lab meetings, progress reports, and project milestones.
• Learn and implement new laboratory techniques while maintaining organized records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or a related scientific field.
• Hands-on experience in molecular biology, including nucleic acid and protein extraction, gel electrophoresis, and cloning.
• Experience with restriction enzyme-based cloning and Gibson assembly.
• Prior hands-on research experience in academia or industry is highly desirable.
• Strong written and oral communication, organizational, laboratory documentation, and creative problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCR, flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, SnapGene, Geneious, electronic lab notebooks, or laboratory inventory systems.
