TL;DR

Senior Software Design Engineer (Embedded): Developing and implementing embedded control software for next-generation engine and transmission platforms with an accent on C programming, Simulink, and robust software quality standards. Focus on designing scalable architectures, ensuring MISRA compliance, and collaborating within agile scrum teams to deliver high-performance automotive solutions.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Milford, Michigan (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office)

What you will do

  • Lead the development of embedded controls software using Lean-Agile principles.
  • Implement and test production software for engine and transmission systems using C and Simulink.
  • Partner with systems engineers and architects to ensure functional alignment and traceability.
  • Maintain high-quality Software Design Documents and implementation records.
  • Drive software quality through unit testing, integration testing, and adherence to MISRA standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical design reviews and scrum ceremonies.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering/Science.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience in embedded development.
  • Strong proficiency in C programming and embedded workflows.
  • Experience with Simulink, MATLAB, and version control systems like Git.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software quality processes and testing standards.
  • Ability to work on-site in Milford, Michigan at least 3 times per week.

Nice to have

  • MS in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 8+ years of experience in engine or transmission controls.
  • Knowledge of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Familiarity with automotive standards like OBD-II and ASIL.
  • Experience with SAFe/Agile methodologies.
