Senior Manager Platform Engineering (Microsoft Atlassian)

Location: New York, New York, United States, or Washington, District of Columbia, United States. Hybrid work model with onsite work required at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a hirify.global office.

Salary: $131,000–$164,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow a global team of platform engineers and systems administrators.
• Own the strategy, architecture, governance, and roadmap for Atlassian Cloud, including Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Atlassian Guard, and Rovo.
• Set the direction for the Microsoft 365 E5 estate, including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Intune, Defender, Purview, Power Platform, and Copilot.
• Design scalable integrations and event-driven automation across identity, HRIS, ITSM, and business systems using APIs, Okta Workflows, Power Platform, and scripting.
• Improve self-service and employee support by automating repetitive work and reducing ticket volume, escalations, and resolution times.
• Establish standards for security, access governance, AI adoption, reliability, compliance, and business continuity.

Requirements

• Significant experience in internal IT, platform engineering, enterprise applications, or a similar environment, including technical team leadership in a distributed organisation.
• Deep hands-on experience owning Atlassian Cloud at enterprise scale, especially Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
• Strong experience administering and governing Microsoft 365 E5, including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Intune, Defender, and Purview.
• Practical knowledge of identity and cloud technologies, including Okta or an equivalent SSO platform, Active Directory, Entra ID, and AWS.
• Experience applying ITIL-aligned service management, automation, self-service, identity and access governance, least privilege, data loss prevention, IT general controls, and audit requirements.
• A track record of developing engineers, influencing cross-functional partners, and communicating technical decisions clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying Microsoft Copilot or Atlassian Rovo with a focus on permissions, responsible adoption, and measurable business value.
• Experience with PowerShell, Python, Terraform, or CloudFormation for platform automation or infrastructure as code.
• Experience with enterprise platform migrations, HRIS-driven provisioning, managed service providers, or regulated environments such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or FedRAMP.
