Engineering Apprentice I (Substation Design)

hirify.global develops and delivers packaged electrical substation solutions through its DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations division.

What you will do

• Apply engineering principles and judgment to develop practical, cost-saving solutions for substation projects.
• Produce structural calculations, size structural elements, and provide reactions for foundation design.
• Design structural steel and foundations in accordance with building codes, customer specifications, and equipment requirements.
• Collaborate with Structural Design Coordinators to create and verify structural models, drawings, and calculation packages.
• Review bus designs, structural layouts, electrical clearances, and substation equipment functions.
• Support projects through the full design process by advising the design team, coordinating reviews, and resolving impediments with project management.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of structural and physical substation design, including steel, foundations, bus systems, layouts, and electrical clearances.
• Working knowledge of engineering software used by DIS-TRAN and adequate Autodesk Inventor knowledge for simple structural models and drawings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills.
• Ability to work on-site in the United States and coordinate effectively with engineering, design, and project management teams.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification.
