What you will do

  • Provide intraoperative neuromonitoring during surgical procedures and monitor patients’ nervous systems.
  • Review patient medical histories and consult surgeons about structures at risk and monitoring modalities.
  • Communicate monitoring information to surgeons and surgical staff throughout each case.
  • Display, label, measure, and calculate waveform data, including latencies, amplitudes, and conduction times.
  • Select appropriate protocols, troubleshoot monitoring issues, and ensure accurate data collection.
  • Complete IOM documentation and logs, upload files, and maintain neuromonitoring equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; no previous professional experience is required.
  • Eligibility for CNIM certification through an ABRET-recognized pathway and ability to obtain and maintain CNIM status.
  • Effective communication in English with surgeons and surgical staff.
  • Strong time-management, organizational, collaboration, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly, travel up to 25%, and transport and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation, plus eligibility for required hospital privileges, physical requirements, vaccinations, and medical malpractice insurance coverage.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, human anatomy and physiology, or technical troubleshooting.
  • Operating room experience.
