TL;DR
Engineering Site Manager (Controllable Solid Propulsion): Leading the design, technical execution, and project engineering of complex rocket motor systems while managing a 20-person multidisciplinary engineering team with an accent on controllable solid propulsion, mechanical design, systems integration, and program control. Focus on optimizing rocket motor and thruster designs, validating structural, dynamic, thermal, and combustion models, and overseeing DoD contracts, requirements, configuration, and risk management.
Location: Hybrid role based in Long Beach, California, United States. Travel up to 10%.
Salary: $190,000β$230,000 USD annually, plus benefits and bonus/incentive eligibility.

What you will do
- Lead the Long Beach engineering site and manage a team of approximately 20 mechanical, systems, and aerospace engineers.
- Set team objectives, conduct performance reviews, provide mentorship, identify training needs, and support recruiting and hiring.
- Lead the design, development, testing, and technical execution of controllable solid propulsion systems, rocket motors, igniters, pressure vessels, actuators, hot gas valves, and thrusters.
- Develop 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings using GD&T and statistical tolerance analysis.
- Direct structural, dynamic, thermal, combustion, ballistics, and system-dynamics analyses, along with materials and manufacturing decisions.
- Oversee DoD project controls, EVM, requirements engineering, MBSE, configuration management, procurement, schedules, risk management, and avionics/control-system integration.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in mechanical, aerospace, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline with 10 years of relevant experience, or a masterβs degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-performing technical teams.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, or manufacturing controllable solid propulsion systems, such as thrust-vector-controlled solid rocket motors, pintle nozzles, controllable solids, or divert/attitude-control systems.
- Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and required export authorizations.

- Masterβs degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university.
