Senior Quality Engineer

Location: Pueblo, Colorado or Penrose, Colorado. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain the required U.S. export authorizations under ITAR and EAR.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 USD base annual salary.

What you will do

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of quality systems compliant with ISO 9001, AS9100, customer specifications, and applicable ATF, DoD, and OSHA requirements.
• Provide technical leadership for manufacturing process controls, inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and controlled quality documentation.
• Lead root cause analyses, CAPA, failure investigations, material review boards, risk assessments, and corrective actions for complex quality issues.
• Plan and conduct internal audits and represent Quality during customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
• Analyze quality metrics, lead supplier quality activities, and drive systemic continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.
• Mentor quality engineers and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS, and Supply Chain while maintaining strict energetic-material safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of quality engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, including technical leadership.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methods, and statistical techniques.
• Experience applying 5 Whys, Fishbone, SPC, and other root cause analysis tools to complex, high-consequence problems.
• Ability to lead projects, mentor engineers, and communicate effectively with technical and executive audiences in high-hazard, safety-critical environments.
• Must be at least 21 years old, pass State and Federal background checks, and be able to obtain and maintain applicable explosives licenses.

Nice to have

• Experience in energetics, explosives, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing industries.
• ASQ CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt certification.
• Advanced familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, DoD quality requirements, configuration management, and controlled documentation systems.
• Experience with government contract requirements, customer quality clauses, and supplier or partner negotiations.
