Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid/on-site at customer locations in Fort Belvoir, Fairfax County, Virginia, United States; travel up to 15% required.

Salary: $185,000–$230,000/year base pay, plus equity grants and cash bonuses.

What you will do

• Contribute to customer-driven projects and the development of long-term company products.
• Work with customers, data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps engineers to define requirements.
• Orchestrate complex data engineering pipelines for production AI systems.
• Develop machine learning models and custom analytics for image, video, text, geospatial, time-series, and structured data.
• Support mission-critical deployments in the field and use customer insights to inform product development.

Requirements

• BS degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related discipline, plus 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience integrating LLMs or building AI agents, agentic workflows, or agentic systems.
• Excellent Python skills and knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or scikit-learn.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and at least one systems programming language.
• Proficiency with modern software engineering tools and processes.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance and US citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in data science, machine learning, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of client-server architectures and design patterns.
• Experience deploying software in containerized or cloud environments.
• Experience with varied unstructured data types and complex production-level technical solutions.
• Experience leading, managing, or mentoring small cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience delivering novel technology solutions in secure government environments.
