Senior Applied ML Engineer (LLMs & NLP)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office at CNBC Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

Salary: USD 140,000–175,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production ML systems, LLM workflows, and platform infrastructure.
• Own AI feature delivery across data pipelines, training workflows, inference, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Contribute to architecture, technical standards, modeling decisions, and system design.
• Identify and mitigate performance regressions, bias, operational risks, and reliability issues in AI systems.
• Participate in code reviews and incident retrospectives while mentoring peers and supporting technical growth.
• Work with engineers, analysts, investors, and senior leadership to build AI products for public-market research.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on machine learning or AI systems.
• Experience building and operating production ML systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Java.
• Experience with LLMs, applied NLP, ranking or recommendation systems, or search.
• Knowledge of deep learning, representation learning, neural networks, model training, and human-in-the-loop evaluation workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch training pipelines.
• Experience with CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, tokenization, sequence labeling, embeddings, text classification, or information extraction.
• Interest in investing, public markets, and fundamental business analysis.
