AI/Machine Learning Engineer (AI agents/RAG/LLMs): Designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI capabilities for public health platforms with an accent on AI agent architecture, memory and state management, RAG pipelines, and retrieval performance. Focus on building evaluation strategies, optimizing ML systems, and maintaining data quality, privacy, anonymization, and ethical standards in mission-critical environments.
Location: Atlanta, GA, USA; on-site support required

What you will do
- Design, develop, and deploy AI capabilities for public health platforms, including AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, and large language models.
- Architect AI systems covering agent data modeling, memory and state management, and RAG pipeline construction and optimization.
- Develop rigorous evaluation strategies to measure reliability, performance, output quality, and continuous improvement.
- Optimize retrieval workflows and establish data quality, curation, and documentation standards with cross-functional AI teams.
- Maintain privacy requirements, anonymization protocols, and ethical guidelines for public health data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering, or computer science.
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models.
- 8+ years of experience with generative AI, LLMs, or RAG applications.
- 8+ years of hands-on Python experience for machine learning and data engineering, plus SQL for data manipulation and feature engineering.
- Experience with Azure and MLOps tools such as MLflow.
- Ability to work on-site in Atlanta, GA, and to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
Nice to have
- Data-centric AI or ML experience in healthcare, biomedical, or public health environments.
- Full-stack development or end-to-end ML application deployment experience.
- Experience deploying ML solutions using MLOps pipelines.
- Knowledge of public health data architecture, chatbot development, conversational AI, Agile workflows, Azure DevOps, or JIRA.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and experience working in a matrixed environment.
