Clinical Social Worker (Oncology)

Location: Remote or hybrid based in Nashville or New York City, United States; working hours are 11:30 AM–8:00 PM EST. Patient interactions are virtual via telephone, video, text, or the virtual care platform.

Salary: $92,000 base salary annually, with equity and benefits included in the total compensation package.

What you will do

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide counseling for patients and families coping with cancer-related anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment, relationships, caregiving, financial toxicity, and advance care planning.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat behavioral health needs through therapeutic interventions.
• Provide crisis intervention during behavioral health emergencies, prognosis changes, and end-of-life decisions.
• Connect patients and families with community resources and advocate with insurers, healthcare providers, and agencies.
• Coordinate care with oncologists, behavioral health providers, nurses, and other specialists to address barriers to treatment adherence.
• Lead cancer support groups and provide education for patients and their families.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited program.
• Valid, current master’s-level social work license in the state of practice, such as LISW or LCSW, with an unrestricted license.
• Three to five years of social work experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
• Strong organization, communication, adaptability, documentation, and multitasking skills.
• Comfort using or learning video-chat tools, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records, and other technologies.

Nice to have

• OSW-C or APHSW-C certification.
• Experience in oncology, palliative care, serious illness care, or hospice.
• Experience at a startup or technology-focused company.
