TL;DR
CPU Validation Engineer (CPU): Developing and executing functional validation for Intel CPUs and their integration into system-level features with an accent on CPU architecture, microarchitecture, performance, power, and area goals. Focus on building post-silicon validation infrastructure, debugging silicon and RTL failures, and validating CPU features across simulation, emulation, FPGA, and silicon environments.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work.

Annual salary: $105,650–$200,340 USD for roles performed in the United States.

What you will do

  • Define, develop, and perform functional validation for CPU internals and system-level CPU integration.
  • Create validation methodologies, test plans, coverage strategies, and post-silicon validation infrastructure.
  • Debug silicon, RTL, simulation, emulation, FPGA, and functional triage failures to identify root causes.
  • Validate interactions between CPU features and assess design changes’ impact on validation plans and timelines.
  • Develop validation content using microcode, firmware, custom operating system builds, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams and publish validation reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field with 2+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 1+ years or a PhD with no experience.
  • Knowledge of CPU architecture, processor microarchitecture, and design.
  • Coursework in VLSI, digital design, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of C, C++, or Python.
  • Ability to analyze, debug, troubleshoot, and collaborate effectively across teams.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM field with experience in CPU design, verification, or architecture.
  • Verilog, SystemVerilog, and x86 assembly coding.
  • Experience with AI agents, RTL simulation and emulation, or module- and SoC-level RTL debugging.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies.
