TL;DR
LOA Specialist (FMLA/ADA): Managing leave-of-absence cases, employee communications, return-to-work processes, and compliance activities with an accent on leave laws, benefits coordination, labor agreements, and aviation medical requirements. Focus on resolving escalated claims, analyzing leave metrics, improving policies, and coordinating with employees, managers, vendors, unions, and internal departments.
Location: Carmel, United States; travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel.

What you will do
- Manage leave-of-absence cases, including approvals, denials, rebuttals, escalations, and required documentation.
- Communicate with associates, managers, third-party administrators, benefit carriers, vendors, and internal departments throughout the leave and return-to-work process.
- Advise on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, short- and long-term disability benefits, and applicable labor agreements.
- Oversee fitness-for-duty evaluations, return-to-work determinations, and coordination with the company Aviation Medical Examiner as required by the FAA.
- Maintain leave metrics, analyze absence trends, prepare reports, and recommend process improvements.
- Support leave policy development, legislative compliance, workers compensation activities, and labor relations matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of related health and welfare administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and applicable state and local leave and accommodation laws.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and communicate through phone, email, and Teams.

- Experience administering benefit plans in an organization with more than 1,000 associates.
