CNC Programmer (Precision Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Review drawings, CAD models, part requirements, and GD&T to define machining approaches, tooling, workholding, setup sequences, and inspection strategies.
• Create 3-axis milling programs in ESPRIT EDGE for small-batch precision parts made from tool steels, aluminum, bronze, and plastics.
• Set up, prove out, operate, and troubleshoot CNC equipment including a Haas VF1 vertical mill, Makino U3 Wire EDM, and CNC lathe.
• Use simulation, probing, inspection tools, and machining judgment to verify programs and processes.
• Transfer setup and operation work to CNC operators through clear process notes, inspection expectations, and troubleshooting support.
• Collaborate with mechanical fabrication leadership, artists, engineers, designers, and internal studio customers on requirements, schedules, and technical risks.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of CNC programming experience and experience programming, setting up, proving out, and operating 3-axis CNC mills.
• Ability to independently plan processes, select cutting tools and workholding, program and simulate jobs, inspect parts, and troubleshoot from drawings or CAD models.
• Experience machining small or highly detailed parts with tight tolerances, commonly to ±.001 inch.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, toolholders, workholding, speeds, feeds, machining strategies, and precision inspection equipment.
• Ability to read and edit G-code, including macro variables, and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
• Ability to work on-site in Hillsboro, Oregon, in a CNC machine-shop environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with ESPRIT, ESPRIT EDGE, Haas controls or vertical mills, and Renishaw or similar probing systems.
• Wire EDM, CNC lathe, CAD, or Autodesk Inventor experience.
• Experience with low-volume production, prototype-to-small-batch manufacturing, or providing technical direction to CNC operators and junior machinists.
