CNC Machining and CAM Automation Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at Space Coast, FL; Huntsville, AL; or Kent, WA. Relocation may be provided, and travel of up to 10% is expected.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $134,961–$188,945.40 annually. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Develop, deploy, customize, and support software solutions for CNC programming and machining automation.
• Develop CNC postprocessors, machine-code simulation, and CAD/CAM/PLM integrations.
• Implement advanced technologies such as AI/ML, in-process probing, adaptive machining, closed-loop feedback, and cutting-tool data management.
• Evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies and lead automation solutions from prioritization through deployment.
• Provide hands-on support to machinists, CNC programmers, and manufacturing engineers.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, automation, software, IT, maintenance, and CNC vendor teams to scale and support automated machining systems.

Requirements

• 2+ years of CNC machining manufacturing experience for Level II or 5+ years for Level III.
• Demonstrated experience with CAM systems, CNC programming, CNC controls, and G-code macro programming.
• Experience developing software, CNC postprocessors, or customized CAM applications.
• Ability to write maintainable code in Python or TypeScript and interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and procedures.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
• Ability to support manufacturing-floor activities, work in confined areas, climb stairs, and lift or carry 40 pounds.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience with source control, CI/CD, cloud architecture, and CAD/CAM/PLM administration.
• Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, NX CAM postprocessors, automated machining cells, robotics, or cutting-tool databases.
