TL;DR
Lead Data Center NOC Engineer (L2) (Data Center Operations): Leading incident response and operational ownership across modular, edge, and distributed data center environments with an accent on critical infrastructure uptime, L2/L3 networking, and physical systems troubleshooting. Focus on commanding medium- to high-severity incidents, improving MTTR, maintaining DCIM/BMS runbooks, and coordinating power, cooling, connectivity, and remote hands operations.

Location: Remote within the United States; the Greater Seattle Area is strongly preferred. The role includes shift work and on-call rotations.

Salary: $125,840–$157,300 USD annually, depending on geographic pay tier, experience, skills, and qualifications. Equity and subsidized benefits are also offered.

What you will do

  • Lead NOC shifts, mentor L1 technicians, manage handovers, prioritize work, and act as the escalation point through incident resolution or L3 handoff.
  • Command medium- and high-severity incidents, coordinating detection, triage, mitigation, communications, resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot power, cooling, networking, and physical infrastructure across modular, containerized, and micro data centers.
  • Use PLC, BMS, DCIM, observability, and ITSM platforms to improve alerting, dashboards, runbooks, reporting, and operational reliability.
  • Perform L2/L3 troubleshooting of switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, routing, VPNs, optics, fiber, copper, and redundant connectivity paths.
  • Coordinate maintenance and remote hands, support change planning and validation, enforce security policies, and drive continuous improvement with Engineering and Product.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in NOC, data center, or infrastructure operations, including technical shift or incident leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with DCIM/BMS platforms such as Distech, Schneider, or RadixIOT.
  • Advanced L2/L3 networking troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of power, cooling, and monitoring systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams and network diagrams.
  • Comfort with shift work and on-call rotations.
  • Must be able to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

  • CCNA, JNCIA, CDCTP, CDCP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with VSAT, LTE/5G, Starlink, or other edge and remote connectivity.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Basic Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
