Senior Fullstack Data Engineer (Azure)

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands; hybrid work with 40% in the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexible. With manager approval, work abroad within approved countries is permitted for up to 3 weeks per year, with a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks.

Salary: €88,000–€131,000 gross annual salary, including FlexBudget and an 8% holiday allowance; a bonus or collective profit sharing may apply depending on the role.

What you will do

• Work as an embedded engineer within a business-facing analytics and quantitative team in the energy trading domain.
• Design, maintain, deploy, monitor, and support Azure-based data pipelines and data products.
• Build batch and streaming data solutions with Azure Databricks, Python, SQL, and Spark.
• Convert analyst-developed notebooks and analytical prototypes into tested, maintainable production solutions.
• Support data platform migration and translate business objectives from analysts and quantitative specialists into scalable technical solutions.
• Improve testing, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, documentation, data transformations, models, and reporting workloads while providing technical guidance.

Requirements

• Strong data engineering experience in Azure cloud environments.
• Hands-on Azure Databricks experience with Spark, Delta Lake, Workflows, and Unity Catalog.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, including experience with batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Experience productionizing notebooks and analytical prototypes.
• Knowledge of testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience collaborating with analysts, data scientists, quantitative specialists, or business-oriented teams, plus experience with platform migration or modernization initiatives.

Nice to have

• Machine Learning Engineering or MLOps experience.
• Terraform or Bicep experience.
• Azure monitoring and observability tooling.
• DataOps practices, orchestration frameworks, dashboard performance optimization, or semantic modeling.
