Policy, Regulatory & Strategic Initiatives, Lead (Fintech): Leading policy, regulatory, and advocacy initiatives affecting payments, financial services, and Canada's digital economy with an accent on regulatory analysis, government engagement, and strategic counsel. Focus on drafting consultation submissions, translating legislative developments into business implications, and coordinating complex cross-functional files under politically sensitive and time-critical conditions.

Location: Toronto, Canada; flexible hybrid work model

Salary: CAD 160,000–190,000 annually, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

  • Lead major policy and regulatory files from strategy and drafting through internal alignment, review, and submission.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments and prepare briefings translating them into business implications and recommended responses.
  • Plan proactive and reactive advocacy around legislative, regulatory, and budget milestones affecting payments and financial services.
  • Represent hirify.global on industry and standards committees and engage government officials, public-sector stakeholders, associations, and external advisors.
  • Lead cross-functional strategic projects, oversee external advisory support and budgets, and support public-sector applications of hirify.global products and services.
  • Provide decision support on politically sensitive, reputationally significant, or time-critical issues while mentoring team members and supporting advocacy governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field; graduate education is an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, regulatory affairs, government, or related sectors.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian government operations, legislative processes, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong policy and regulatory analysis, government-facing writing, briefing, submission, and public affairs strategy skills.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships, politically sensitive issues, reputational risks, external advisors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, manage multiple externally driven timelines, and remain composed with senior officials and executives.

  • Experience at the intersection of financial services, payments, and technology.
  • Bilingualism in French and English.
