Strategic Sourcing Manager (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid, with in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday for candidates within commuting distance of offices in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin.

Base pay in San Francisco: $150,000–$180,000 per year. Total compensation may include benefits, equity, and bonus or variable pay.

What you will do

• Lead sourcing strategy and commercial negotiations with cloud infrastructure providers, hyperscalers, and emerging AI infrastructure vendors.
• Structure IaaS, compute, storage, capacity, committed-spend, consumption-based, and usage-based agreements.
• Design pricing models that balance commitment, flexibility, transparent economics, consumption growth, and long-term leverage.
• Partner with Engineering, Finance, Legal, Security, and other stakeholders to forecast demand, evaluate suppliers, and translate technical requirements into sourcing strategies.
• Analyze provider pricing, consumption patterns, contract structures, and market dynamics to improve economics and reduce commercial risk.
• Build AI-powered sourcing tools and playbooks using tools such as Claude and v0 for redlining, negotiation preparation, benchmarking, and vendor reporting.

Requirements

• Strong analytical skills in rate and unit-cost analysis, TCO modeling, and pricing model design.
• Ability to operate at pace across high deal volume, ambiguity, imperfect information, and execution-focused environments.
• Clear, direct communication skills with executives and negotiating counterparts.
• Significant strategic sourcing experience owning cloud infrastructure deals, including direct negotiations with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle, or comparable providers.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure commercial models, including IaaS, compute, storage, consumption-based pricing, committed spend, discounts, and capacity agreements.
• Experience leading complex, high-value negotiations where changing consumption creates forecasting and long-term commitment challenges.
• Ability to evaluate tradeoffs between commitment, flexibility, unit economics, pricing transparency, and negotiating leverage.
• Experience partnering with technical and financial stakeholders to turn infrastructure requirements and forecasts into sourcing and negotiation strategies.
• Experience managing strategic supplier relationships and contracts through negotiation, execution, consumption monitoring, and renewal.

Nice to have

• Experience sourcing AI/ML infrastructure, data services, or technical services for an engineering-heavy organization.
• Direct negotiation experience with AI hyperscalers or providers of large-scale AI compute and inference infrastructure.
• Experience sourcing SaaS and other enterprise software alongside infrastructure.
