Principal Field Application Engineer – SIP for Data Center

Location: Bristol, UK — hybrid; office attendance Monday through Thursday, with Fridays flexible. Travel is up to 35%.

What you will do

• Drive design wins for high-speed drivers, TIAs, copper redrivers, and related connectivity products with strategic data center customers.
• Lead customer co-development and proof-of-concept initiatives for 1.6T, 3.2T+, and other next-generation connectivity technologies.
• Provide pre-sales, post-sales, technical evaluation, troubleshooting, and design-in support for hyperscaler, PON, and Mobile Transport accounts.
• Guide customers on hardware design, PCB layout, signal integrity optimization, firmware integration, and system validation.
• Influence product roadmaps and R&D priorities through customer insights and market intelligence.
• Coordinate with product management, engineering, marketing, sales, and operations to support strategic customer programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field; a Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
• At least 5 years of AE/FAE experience in data centers, PON, or wireless/mobile transport.
• Expertise in signal integrity, modulation schemes, channel modeling, and equalization for 800G, 1.6T, 3.2T, PON, or mobile transport applications.
• Knowledge of optical transceiver architecture, design, validation, and manufacturing, plus familiarity with LPO, LRO, NPO, CPO, ONU/OLT, or mobile transport optical architectures.
• Experience with high-speed PCB design, impedance control, signal integrity validation, and high-speed test equipment including network analyzers, BER testers, and oscilloscopes.
• Understanding of IEEE 802.3, OIF, or ITU-T PON standards, with strong communication, autonomy, and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed laser or modulator drivers, TIAs, redrivers, or DSPs.
• Participation in IEEE 802.3, OIF, or ITU-T standards bodies.
• Experience with optical customers, hyperscalers, optical module vendors, PON equipment vendors, mobile network infrastructure providers, or data center equipment manufacturers.
• Established relationships with European PON or Mobile Transport accounts.
