Electrical Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Remote US; based in the US. Occasional travel may be required, up to 10%.

What you will do

• Design, modify, analyze, and review electrical systems for utility-scale and distributed energy projects, including solar PV, BESS, wind, hybrid power, microgrids, and EV/data center infrastructure.
• Develop initial substation concepts and oversee detailed designs covering layouts, elevations, single-line diagrams, ground grids, lightning protection, AC/DC control schematics, wiring, cable schedules, raceways, and bills of materials.
• Develop technical specifications for electrical components and evaluate vendor proposals, specifications, and drawings.
• Review substation and collection system designs and support EPC RFP processes and equipment specifications.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, transmission, and system studies teams while independently performing design, analysis, and review work.
• Deliver projects on schedule while meeting quality and budget objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and at least six years of electrical engineering experience.
• Experience must be within utilities, energy systems, or renewable energy sectors.
• Strong knowledge of power systems, grid operations, utility infrastructure, and renewable energy systems including solar PV, wind, and battery storage.
• Experience developing, designing, and checking detailed design drawings and documents for high-voltage substations.
• Based in the US and holds a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Detailed knowledge of analytical tools and software used in the industry.
• Knowledge of industrial standards, codes, and construction practices.
• Strong internal and external customer focus, attention to detail, comfort working outside a comfort zone, and proactive learning of new technology and engineering knowledge.
• Experience using AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity, and innovation.
