Civil Engineer, Transportation

Location: Hybrid position based in Carlsbad or San Diego, California, with remote flexibility and in-person collaboration in the office up to three days per week.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year.

Transportation practice delivering planning, design, permitting, construction management, and inspection services for transportation infrastructure and public works projects.

What you will do

• Work on Southern California transportation and public works projects, including roadway and intersection improvements, ADA and accessibility upgrades, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, signing and striping, traffic signals, street lighting, and local agency infrastructure.
• Prepare preliminary and final engineering plans using AutoCAD and, where applicable, Civil 3D.
• Develop plan and specification packages from design criteria, sketches, and detailed drawings.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design technicians while applying engineering standards, technical manuals, and design principles.
• Review shop drawings for conformance with contract documents and support project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and proposals.
• Serve as a task manager on selected projects, contribute to marketing and business development, and build project management expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Ability and commitment to obtain a California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within 12 months of hire.
• 5–10 years of civil engineering experience, including preparation of engineering plans and designs.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Collaborative mindset and interest in transportation and public-sector infrastructure projects.
