Senior Site Reliability Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote - US; travel to the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices is required for onboarding, team events, and semi-annual or annual team meetings.

Salary: CAD 155,000–172,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for applying software engineering practices to operations at scale.
• Monitor and report on service-level objectives and collaborate with business and product owners to establish performance indicators.
• Design operational solutions that improve automation, repeatability, consistency, observability, and operational workload.
• Conduct technical training, game day scenarios, engineering spikes, and persistent resilience testing for applications and infrastructure.
• Partner with security engineers to develop plans and automation for responding to risks and vulnerabilities.
• Guide software development teams on resiliency, efficiency, performance, costs, change management, and sustainable operational practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related discipline.
• Relevant software development or architecture experience and hands-on experience in DevOps or system administration.
• Experience building and supporting cloud-based solutions and supporting mission-critical applications in production.
• Experience with one or more of C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
• Experience with configuration management and deployment automation tools such as Chef, Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Experience administering Windows and Linux machines, plus knowledge of the software development life cycle and QA and beta environments.
• Proficiency in cloud computing concepts and on-premise infrastructure, with a strong understanding of infrastructure platforms and concepts.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development, standard production practices including change management, debugging, code optimization, and routine-task automation.
• Systematic problem-solving skills, strong communication, ownership, and drive.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and services.
• Experience with virtualization and container solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
• Broad troubleshooting experience across web servers, Java application platforms, operating systems, networks, virtualization, and databases.
• Advanced Linux knowledge, including kernel compilation, syscall tracing, TCP, and init systems such as sysvinit, runit, or systemd.
• Open-source software knowledge and contributions to the open-source community.
• Use of generative AI code assistants such as GitHub Copilot and knowledge of current generative AI model capabilities.
