Infrastructure Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and technical direction of the AWS and EKS platform, including cluster topology, networking, IAM, and cost management.
• Audit inherited infrastructure, identify weaknesses, and plan remediation while supporting continued product delivery.
• Define OpenTofu modules, state management, deployment standards, and platform patterns for 35+ engineers.
• Build SLOs, meaningful alerting, incident response processes, and on-call practices.
• Operate Postgres, Redis, and background job systems in production, including upgrades, failover, and capacity management.
• Build internal tooling and infrastructure for coding agents and LLM workloads, while mentoring engineers who support infrastructure part-time.

Requirements

• 3+ years owning production Kubernetes clusters as an escalation point, including upgrades, control plane, networking, and incidents.
• Experience taking over an existing platform, evaluating architectural decisions, and executing infrastructure improvements.
• Experience working on an infrastructure team of five or fewer with significant operational, financial, customer, or compliance impact.
• Strong software development experience building controllers, CLIs, deployment systems, or internal services.
• Deep Terraform or OpenTofu knowledge, including module design, state management, and drift management.
• Production experience with Postgres, CI/CD, observability, and agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.

Nice to have

• Experience operating Rails, Sidekiq, Django, Java, or another stateful monolithic application.
• Fintech, wealth management, financial services, or other regulated-industry experience.
• Experience migrating from a managed PaaS to self-managed infrastructure.
