Senior Software Developer (Go) - US Payments (Contract)

Location: Remote from Ontario, Canada only. The first day is required in the office to collect equipment for remote work.

What you will do

• Design and implement US payments gateway functionality in Go, including payment flows, scheme-specific behavior, validation, and error handling.
• Build comprehensive automated integration tests and contribute to technical designs, implementation plans, and platform architecture decisions.
• Improve resilience, performance, disaster recovery, failure-mode testing, monitoring, alerting, telemetry, and observability.
• Support release preparation, production deployment, post-launch issue resolution, and operational readiness.
• Create and maintain design notes, testing documentation, deployment guidance, operational procedures, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and other functions while maintaining engineering and security standards for critical payments infrastructure.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience with Go and a strong software engineering mindset.
• Deep understanding of designing and building distributed systems.
• Experience handling complex, high-performance, and robust software challenges.
• Familiarity with cloud, containerisation, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Interest in owning projects end-to-end and supporting them in production.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an appreciation for clean code and engineering best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Flux, Prometheus, CockroachDB, NATS JetStream, Elasticsearch, Vault, Cilium, Pact.io, or Tilt.
• Experience with containerised microservices, CQRS, TDD/BDD, pair programming, or SecDevOps.
• Some Java experience.
