Senior Software Engineer (Internal Tools) (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Annual salary: $144,000–$176,000 CAD; typical starting salary is $160,000 CAD for candidates fully ready for the role's scope.

What you will do

• Own internal-tool features across design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Build admin surfaces and workflows that replace manual processes, spreadsheets, and one-off scripts.
• Manage production systems and improve infrastructure availability, scalability, resilience, and performance.
• Conduct discovery with internal users, understand their workflows, and prioritize solutions based on operational needs.
• Identify technical, process, and product improvements while influencing technical direction and long-term strategy.

Requirements

• 3+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Experience leading significant components or features with minimal oversight.
• Ability to conduct product discovery with internal users and propose process improvements.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to code quality, performance, and development practices.
• Collaborative approach and comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and changing environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in startups or high-growth technology companies.
• Experience building internal tools, admin platforms, or back-office systems in fintech, banking, or regulated industries.
• Experience with JavaScript; the primary stack includes TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and continuous deployment pipelines.
