Layout Engineer (Nuclear) (MEP and Plant Layout): Developing and validating Conventional Island layouts, routing, and modularised assemblies for nuclear projects with an accent on installation, manufacturing, commissioning, and systems requirements. Location: Remote with occasional site visits to Manchester, Derby, or Warrington; role location listed as Derby, UK

What you will do
- Develop and validate Conventional Island layouts for nuclear projects.
- Design MEP routing, arrangements, and modularised assemblies that meet technical, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning requirements.
- Progress design packages through gated Design Review processes.
- Collaborate with layout, installation, CAD, systems, and other stakeholders to develop compliant module clusters.
- Identify and manage installation, technical, and programme risks while supporting nuclear safety and quality requirements.
- Support configuration and data management throughout the SMR project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Experience in plant layout, piping layout, or general layout design for complex projects.
- Experience delivering installation design programmes on time, within cost, and to quality requirements.
- Experience developing design solutions from concept through detailed definition using robust design methodologies, DfX, and trade-off studies.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, stakeholder management, technical and programme risk management, and gated design reviews.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- BPSS security clearance is required or must be obtained as part of onboarding.
Nice to have
- Experience in nuclear, power generation, or other safety-critical industries.
- Knowledge of ONR safety principles, INPO guidance, or similar regulatory frameworks.
