Company

hirify.global is a deep-tech fusion company developing hardware and infrastructure for commercial stellarator fusion power plants.

What you will do

  • Own controls engineering for new magnet factory equipment used in coil winding, impregnation, joining, and end-of-line testing.
  • Develop control system architectures, electrical schematics, sensor and actuator specifications, and panel layouts.
  • Write, debug, maintain, and document reusable PLC software in Structured Text using Beckhoff TwinCAT 3.
  • Implement field networks including EtherCAT, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and OPC-UA, and configure servo drives and VFDs for precision motion control.
  • Design HMI/SCADA screens and commission equipment through installation, integration, FAT, SAT, and initial process validation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process, manufacturing, and electrical engineers while troubleshooting equipment hands-on and implementing machine safety systems.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Beckhoff control systems and TwinCAT 3.
  • Strong Structured Text programming skills based on IEC 61131-3.
  • 2–5 years of controls engineering experience in manufacturing or automation equipment, ideally with electromechanical or precision systems.
  • Experience commissioning servo drives and VFDs and integrating sensors, actuators, and safety devices.
  • Practical knowledge of field network topology and familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms such as TwinCAT HMI, WinCC, or Ignition.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience; working knowledge of electrical and machine safety standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical CAD tools.
  • Python or SQL scripting for data acquisition or MES/database integration.
  • Exposure to cryogenics, superconducting magnets, precision manufacturing, or machine vision.
  • Greenfield or startup equipment commissioning experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on advanced manufacturing systems for commercial fusion technology.
  • Build production lines, tooling, and processes from the ground up.
  • Join a growing international team working across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford.
  • Work in a small, fast-moving environment where equipment, quality, and process decisions have direct shop-floor impact.

Hiring process

  • Recruiter interview lasting 30–60 minutes.
  • 30-minute technical screening followed by a technical panel with three 60-minute sessions.
  • 30-minute CEO call.
