Manufacturing Engineer (Generator Rotors)

What you will do

• Develop and implement manufacturing processes for generator rotor repairs, overhauls, and full rewinds.
• Create work instructions, routing sheets, technical documentation, and tooling requirements.
• Provide technical expertise for rotor dismantling, inspection, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, insulation repairs, winding installation, connections, testing, and balancing.
• Collaborate with engineering, workshop, and production teams to resolve technical issues, monitor job progress, and maintain schedules.
• Drive continuous improvement by standardizing best practices, improving productivity, reducing costs, and enhancing workflow efficiency.
• Support inspections, testing, CAPA activities, and compliance with quality, safety, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in generator rotor repair, overhaul, and rewind operations.
• Hands-on expertise with large industrial generators, rotor winding, insulation systems, balancing, and repair or service center activities.
• Knowledge of generator rotor design and construction, Class F/H and mica insulation systems, VPI, and electrical testing methods including IR, PI, surge, and hipot testing.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, troubleshoot technical issues, and apply analytical problem-solving.
• Familiarity with OEM standards from GE, Siemens, ABB, Brush, Alstom, and MHI, with a focus on quality, safety, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
